Safe Roads India Summit 2017

    The first Safe Roads India Summit 2017 was a 2-day event dedicated to all aspects of road safety in India. This summit was an initiative of Mercedes-Benz India. This was held in New Delhi on 22 & 23 November. Child safety on Indian roads was selected as the core theme of this summit.

The summit attracted experienced safety professionals from around the world, who explained in detail myriad concepts and ideas on how harm to road users, especially children, can be prevented on Indian roads. Numerous expert lectures on vehicle technology, road infrastructure, and road user behaviour detailed the latest advances for making roads safer for everyone.

    In the Expert lectures session, Devendra Kumar P from Satven’s safety team presented a paper on “CHILD SAFETY ON INDIAN ROADS”. His presentation focused on the following:
  • Need for child safety measures on Indian Roads with statistical evidence
  • Limitations and challenges when it comes to child safety in India
  • Child road safety measures from three different perspectives (vehicle, human, and infrastructure).


    • We also had Balaji Perumalla from Satven’s safety team presenting a paper on “An approach to avoid passengers’ head injury during sudden acceleration and braking in buses”.
    Some salient points:
  • Statistics, challenges, technological advancements, and causes of injuries during sudden acceleration and braking in buses
  • Head rest designs to eliminate or minimize injuries to bus passengers (in conventional as well as recliner seats).

    Indo-Hiroshima Club Activities 2017

    Satven Japan took part in the Aosaki Community Friendship Festival held on November 11 and 12 this year. This is the second time they actively chose to be a part of it.
      The club aims to promote community pride by celebrating all the things that make town special. This time, the volunteers fostered international cultural exchange through ethnic cuisine, art, traditional clothing, and classic accessories.
    It’s this exchange that makes for a steadfast base for a true Indo-Japan Experience, believes the club. His Excellency, incumbent Hiroshima governor, Hidehiko Yuzaki, visited the fest as part of last segment of his election campaign. He dropped in at the stall of Indo Hiroshima Club to congratulate the volunteers.

    Satven Japan Associates Outing

    On November 18th, a team of 45 Satven Japan associates and their families embarked on a trip to Akiota, a small and lovely town, close to Hiroshima. On their way to the town, they passed through some calm and beautiful woods before they visited a group of therapists.

    The clinic was amidst Trees Trail at Mt Osorakan Forest. The spa treatments helped them come out rejuvenated and more at peace with the surroundings.

    They also availed Shinrin Therapy which is called ‘forest bathing’. The treatment improves ones nervous system and general well-being.
      There after the associates and their families were engaged in some fun filled games and sports. Several of them had fun taking to the Zip Line Adventure, zipping happily down the hill amidst lush green trees.
      The trip was made more special with the presence of our CEO Mr Rao S. Vadlamudi, who spent good time with the associates and their families. CEO had presented performance awards for select associates for their performance in the last quarter.

    Satven WeCare!

    Hypertension – A reason to be on red alert

    Satven held a detailed session on Hypertension in SP Info City, Chennai, for the benefit of the associates. As many as 30 associates participated. The session was organized by Dr. Reddy’s Foundation on 27th October from 2pm to 3pm.

    Doctors from Yashoda Hospitals visited Satven Hyderabad on 31st October and offered medical checkup to all associates. The tests, included Body Mass Index, blood sugar test, BP, and consultation on cardiac health. They also offered customized consultation for other prevalent problems in today’s times such as Vitamin D deficiency and anemia. As many as 245 members participated in the consultation session and benefited from it.

      Greenpeace engages with Satven associates

      Greenpeace India, an organization working towards spreading environment awareness, visited Satven Hyderabad on 2nd November.

        The organization’s volunteers spoke about food wastage and they taught the associates a simple, systematic way called ‘Khamba’ that turns kitchen waste into manure at homes. The volunteers shared virtual reality presentations and engaged in a direct dialogue with associates.

      Recently, the international NGO launched a campaign called ‘Waste Segregation’, so they also touched upon the topic. The topic is particularly important because organic waste which can be useful as manure will end up in various landfills in the city when not segregated well.

    Secrets of Living Healthy

    A session on Secrets of Living Healthy was conducted by Dr. B. Bapuji, Chairman of Center for Integrated Medicine. The special session was held at Satven office on 26th September and Satven Hyderabad Leaders had attended.

    Dr Bapuji offered a talk on better lifestyle and the science of naturopathy.

      The session was enlightening to the participants and it was well-received. The leaders had a very engaging time interacting in a Q & A session with him.

    Diwali Celebrations – 2017

    On October 17, the ambience on the terrace of Satven Hyderabad was vibrant with music and dance. The festivities started early in the evening with popular Bollywood and Tollywood numbers, played by our own homegrown DJs at Satven. The associates danced to the music and till it is time for the fireworks to begin.
      The fireworks were started in style by our CEO Mr Rao S. Vadlamudi, who lit the first colourful rocket among the series of many rockets that lit the evening sky. The associates cheered as the rockets blew up high in the sky ending up in a beautiful visual of colourful sparks.
      Later the many associates joined the party by lighting the fire crackers one after the other. The festivities went on for few hours before more dance and music filled the air.

      All were treated to mouth watering snacks and sweets before leaving for the day.

    Dussehra Celebrations – 2017

    Dussehra is always a grand affair at Satven. This year the celebrations were even better and the colourful Satven team danced their way till late in the evening, even during rain!

    The buzz, the aplomb and the grandeur were nothing less than that of a ‘Big Fat Indian Wedding’.

    Satven lobby and the canteen were decorated in a breath taking manner by teams of women associates. The rangoli designs, the floral decorations, fixing the balloons, and different textures created by using fruits and cloth, lent variety to the entire decorations.

    The associates were asked to dress in a specific colour on each day leading up to Navami (the 9th day of Dussehra). The decorations at the lobby and the ethnic clothes the associates wore on each day, matched with the particular colour code of the day.
      All that beauty and joy was captured in pictures for posterity.
    On day of Ashtami (the 8th day of the affair), a group of talented associates showcased dandiya and garba on the terrace; and as already said, they danced their way into the late evening despite of rain!
      There was ramp walk by the associates in ethnic attire, and the awards for the walkers with best attire, were given away by our CEO, Mr Rao S Vadlamudi.
    Mr. Rao S. Vadlamudi was present with his wife Mrs Subha Rao and daughter Ms Sruti, who joyfully danced to the DJ’s music at the end of the show.

    What made the event extra special was that family members of Satvenites also attended it.

    The admin, corporate services and other teams of Satven did a lovely job in putting up a great show on the day. Our leaders Dr. AM Rao, Ms. Aradhana Rewatkar, and Mr. Shiva Koka with the involvement of various teams made the whole event lively despite inclement weather.

    Bathukamma – 2017

    Bathukamma, the traditional floral festival of Telangana, was celebrated by Satven team, on 25th October, in true style. Women of Satven looked vibrant in sarees of different hues and colours, while they danced around the floral arrangements joyously. It was a good precursor to Dandiya!
      We appreciate and thank all the women volunteers and staff who made this a very joyful and memorable event.

    International Conference on ADMMS 2017

    International Conference on Advances in Design, Materials, Manufacturing and Surface Engineering for Mobility – ADMMS 2017, was organized in Chennai by SAE India Southern Section & B S Abdur Rahman Crescent University in July 2017.

    Dhev Anandh, Senior Project Manager – CAE, was invited to be a session co-chair in the Modelling & Analysis technical session held as part of this 3-day conference.

      Overall, 5 technical papers were presented:
    • Simulation and validation of propeller shaft mounting brackets for heavy duty commercial vehicles
    • Weight optimization of fork and axle of main landing gear for an unmanned aerial vehicle by FEM
    • Experimental and numerical study on the effect of valve angle of EGR on exhaust gas flow
    • Quantitative Evaluation of steering system rattle noise
    • Combined effects of injection timing and fuel Injection pressure on performance, combustion and emission characteristics of a direct injection diesel engine numerically using CONVERGE CFD tool

    India Altair Technology Conference 2017

    Veerababu Mummina, Steering CAE Project Leader, represented Satven at the recent India Altair Technology Conference which was held in Chennai on the 01st and 02nd of August 2017.

    He presented a paper on the automation of a complex load application process (pre-processing portion) related to resolution of abuse driving torques into corresponding forces on the rack and pinion at their appropriate locations as per the fundamentals of gear mechanics.

    The automation was accomplished using TCL/TK scripts in HyperMesh.

    This intricate scripting work attracted the attention of delegates & the jury and it was awarded the second prize in the process automation category.
