13th Indo-Japan Annual Summit, Tokyo

The 13th Indo-Japan Annual Summit was held in Tokyo on 29th OCT 2018.

Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and Honorable Prime Minister of Japan Shri Shinzo Abe had signed an MOU to strengthen the ties between the two countries and mutually increase trade and the investment in both the countries.

During the summit JETRO ( Japan External Trade Organization) had signed and MOU with Satven to extend necessary support for Satven’s future business in Japan.

FISITA – World Automotive Congress 2018

The 37th edition of the FISITA World Automotive Congress 2018 was held in Chennai between 2nd ~ 5th OCT 32018, at Chennai Trade Center. The FISITA 2018 theme was:

Disruptive Technologies for Affordable and Sustainable Mobility.

    It was a forum for industry experts, executives and engineers to exchange ideas and discuss the trends that drive the automotive industry forward.

    Several major global auto OEMs, Tier-I & II suppliers and several professionals from industry and academia, students and automotive enthusiasts had come together and benefited from the 4 days interactions, exhibitions and presentations by global leaders of the auto industry.

    Apart from the plenary sessions in the main hall, there were another 10 halls earmarked for parallel presentations on all three days on wide variety of topics such as:

  • Connected Cars, Autonomous Mobility Solutions, Bio-Mechanics, Artificial Intelligence, ADAS, Electric Power Train; Ride, Comfort and Handling; Fuel Economy, Advanced Transmission Technologies, xEV technologies, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Frugal Engineering Design, Automotive Safety, Human Behavior in Transportation, PowerTrain NVH, etc.
    • Satven had setup a booth at this prestigious show. Several esteemed delegates from the automotive world had graciously visited the stall and were curious to know about the engineering solutions that Satven has to offer.

Dell Designathon 2.0

The second edition of Dell Designathon which was held in Hyderabad on 10th and 11th SEP 2018, was based on the theme:

“Enabling human progress through design for sustainable Urbanization”.

    The event covered four industry verticals:
  • Architecture
  • Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Fashion and Lifestyle
  • Media and Entertainment.
    • The event included workshops & mentorship programs conducted by the experts from the Indian design industry which helped the individuals to think out of box and come up with innovative ideas that are in-line with the theme.

      Dell Designathon 2.0 saw participants from TCS, Cyient, Satyam Venture Engineering Services, Verizon, Orient Blackswan, Phoenix Engineering Technologies, GRN Construction, Netha Interior and Archi-tecture, Bannari Amman spinning Mills and Tat Skycraft.

    Team Satven was the winner of Dell Designathon 2.0 Hyderabad, for their design concept:

    “Un-Print – A paper recycling innovation”.

      The Satven team that participated in the prestigious competition were: Ambrish, Abhishek, Mani Shankar and Vamshi.

Auto Expo 2018 – ‘The Motor Show’

The 2018 Auto Expo ‘The Motor Show’, was a grand event held at Greater Noida, close to New Delhi. The Motor Show was organised jointly by ACMA, CII and SIAM between 9th ~ 14th FEB 2018.
    The theme of the 2018 show was “Co-Create, Co-Exist and Celebrate” which focused on ‘Entire Mobility Ecosystem’.

This year the show had showcased several passenger and commercial vehicles, EVs, hybrids, race cars and race bikes, three and two wheelers, apart from many concept vehicles and related advanced technologies, for the auto enthusiasts and professionals.

The auto show had portrayed a complex maze of safety, emissions and sustainability in a blueprint, to share the complex evolutionary cycle of the automobile industry.

Six special interest zones were introduced at the show:
  • Automotive Innovation covering Start-ups
  • Electric vehicles technology solution
  • Exotica for display of heritage cars and supercar
  • Motorsports for display of rally vehicles
  • Auto Gaming Arena
  • Future Mobility Experience and Application Vehicles.
    • The Future Mobility Experience zone had come up with the virtual reality experience of driving connected and autonomous electric vehicles on various roads to give a picture of future mobility.
      In comparison to Auto Expo 2016, this year saw the number of EVs surge 10-fold to over 50 electric and hybrid vehicles as car makers drew up plans for electrification of their fresh line-up of products.
      Kia Motors officially launched its brand in India and has plans to launch 16 electric vehicles by 2025.

      Kia Motors plant is getting ready in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of $1.1 billion and a capacity of 3 lakh units. Kia will launch a compact SUV first in India by 2019.

        Kawasaki Motors had launched the famous NINJA bikes — Ninja H2 SX Standard and special edition Ninja H2 SX SE — at the Auto Expo 2018. The prices start at Rs 21.6Lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.

      Satven had setup a stall to showcase the engineering capabilities at the expo this year too. Satven team had an opportunity to connect with customers, prospects, auto enthusiasts and industry professionals from several countries. Several prospective customers had visited Satven stall as seen in the pictures below.

    IGNITE 2018!

    By February 2018, Satven had completed 18 years of engineering excellence and outstanding service to the global automotive industry. Satven had celebrated that milestone by organizing town-hall meetings and outdoor events across various locations in India and abroad, during early February2018.
      During 2017, Satven team in Bangalore had grown rapidly adding close to 90 engineers to the team. And that was another reason for the grand celebrations, which were held on 10th February in ‘Clark Exotica Resorts’, on the outskirts of Bangalore city.
    Many of the associates reached ITPL early in the morning, to board the buses arranged to take them to the resort. Several were picked up from their homes, on the way to the resort. Once inside the resort, all the associates were enchanted by the beauty of serene settings and the crispy cool breeze had kindled their spirits to gear up for an exciting day ahead.

    The team could not have asked for better surroundings to chill out and unwind that day. They were quick onto the outdoor games and participated in events conducted by a professional trainer.

      Meanwhile our CEO Mr. Rao and the management team were there to join the team for a sumptuous lunch and the events thereafter. The next few hours were spent inside the convention hall to keep the team cool and away from the afternoon heat.
    Several team members were presented with ‘Pat-on-the-back’ awards for their outstanding performance / contribution to the customer projects. After some mouth watering snacks and tea, it was time for the cake cutting ceremony. The cake was cut by our CEO and was joined by all present on the occasion. It was a memorable sight for all who joined the celebrations.
      After few more events it was time for the evening DJ, song and dances. Many associates hit the dance floor and danced to the peppy numbers from all languages. To keep their energy high and to put up a spirited performance, the spirits and food was there for the asking.
    Thus the first team outing in Bangalore was a grand affair and the team promised to come up with even more colourful performances and exciting events for the next year celebrations.

    IGNIZIO 2018!

    Satven had completed 18 years of engineering excellence and outstanding service to the global automotive industry. Satven had celebrated that milestone by organizing town-hall meetings and outdoor events across various locations in India and abroad, during early February2018.
      Satvenites in Chennai and the Management team had come together for a two day celebration on 3rd & 4th February, in Ocean Spray Resorts, located on the outskirts of Pondicherry, in Tamil Nadu.
    The setting was so perfect for the large gathering of around 400 associates, that they had completely got immersed in the colourful events, performances and receiving awards, appreciations and gifts and not to forget the food and drinks that kept them energetic all through their stay at the resort.

    After the ceremonial event a huge cake was cut to commemorate the 18th anniversary celebrations.

    It was a sight to behold, when so many young and enthusiastic young men and women come together with their unique attitudes and colours, display their abilities and keep you mesmerised by their performances!

      Earlier during the day CEO Mr. Rao and the Leadership team had briefed the gathering on the Satven journey since inception in the year 2000 and also shared the future growth plans of Satven.
    A beautiful memento of Lord Shri Venkateshwara of Tirumala was presented by the team to our CEO.
      The ‘Team Of the Quarter’ awards were given to 16 teams comprising of several associates in each team. These awards were given for the outstanding performance / contribution of the teams, to the customer projects and appreciated by the customers and management.
    In the evening the stage was set on fire with dances and glimpses of heavenly music with some medley and unplugged performances by the Satven music band. The mime with a social cause and the Ignizio performance with many associates taking part in the show were memorable. The humorous Dubsmashes, the video trolls, the futuristic robot dance and the third edition of the Satven Fashion Walk by Satven fashionistas are some of the highlights of the evening events.
      The night was young, as can be expected, when so many young and energetic men and women get together. They partied hard till late in the night, never for a moment wanting to let go that feeling of joy and togetherness.

    Next day was a beautiful Sunday. With the sun lazily rising above the Bay of Bengal, with its golden yellow light filling the early morning sky, we couldn’t ask for any more better sight, after a very eventful day and night.

    While several were lazing in their beds and many out enjoying their morning walk in the green settings of the resort, several other associates and management team had joined the Zoomba session that was conducted by a professional Zoomba trainer. And so Zoomba it was in the morning by 7AM for the fitness freaks!

    The Zoomba trainer got the team into the rhythm by making them practice to the funky tunes of some English and Bollywood music.

    After that several of them took a walk to the beautiful sea shore which is a stone’s throw away from the resort.
      Back again to the resort and after quick showers the team had a sumptuous breakfast and left the resort to yet another resort – ‘The Ideal Resort’, for lunch. After lunch the teams had their good byes and wowed to come back again the next year, with even more exciting and colourful performances.

    Safe Roads India Summit 2017

      The first Safe Roads India Summit 2017 was a 2-day event dedicated to all aspects of road safety in India. This summit was an initiative of Mercedes-Benz India. This was held in New Delhi on 22 & 23 November. Child safety on Indian roads was selected as the core theme of this summit.

    The summit attracted experienced safety professionals from around the world, who explained in detail myriad concepts and ideas on how harm to road users, especially children, can be prevented on Indian roads. Numerous expert lectures on vehicle technology, road infrastructure, and road user behaviour detailed the latest advances for making roads safer for everyone.

      In the Expert lectures session, Devendra Kumar P from Satven’s safety team presented a paper on “CHILD SAFETY ON INDIAN ROADS”. His presentation focused on the following:
  • Need for child safety measures on Indian Roads with statistical evidence
  • Limitations and challenges when it comes to child safety in India
  • Child road safety measures from three different perspectives (vehicle, human, and infrastructure).


    • We also had Balaji Perumalla from Satven’s safety team presenting a paper on “An approach to avoid passengers’ head injury during sudden acceleration and braking in buses”.
    Some salient points:
  • Statistics, challenges, technological advancements, and causes of injuries during sudden acceleration and braking in buses
  • Head rest designs to eliminate or minimize injuries to bus passengers (in conventional as well as recliner seats).

    Indo-Hiroshima Club Activities 2017

    Satven Japan took part in the Aosaki Community Friendship Festival held on November 11 and 12 this year. This is the second time they actively chose to be a part of it.
      The club aims to promote community pride by celebrating all the things that make town special. This time, the volunteers fostered international cultural exchange through ethnic cuisine, art, traditional clothing, and classic accessories.
    It’s this exchange that makes for a steadfast base for a true Indo-Japan Experience, believes the club. His Excellency, incumbent Hiroshima governor, Hidehiko Yuzaki, visited the fest as part of last segment of his election campaign. He dropped in at the stall of Indo Hiroshima Club to congratulate the volunteers.

    Satven Japan Associates Outing

    On November 18th, a team of 45 Satven Japan associates and their families embarked on a trip to Akiota, a small and lovely town, close to Hiroshima. On their way to the town, they passed through some calm and beautiful woods before they visited a group of therapists.

    The clinic was amidst Trees Trail at Mt Osorakan Forest. The spa treatments helped them come out rejuvenated and more at peace with the surroundings.

    They also availed Shinrin Therapy which is called ‘forest bathing’. The treatment improves ones nervous system and general well-being.
      There after the associates and their families were engaged in some fun filled games and sports. Several of them had fun taking to the Zip Line Adventure, zipping happily down the hill amidst lush green trees.
      The trip was made more special with the presence of our CEO Mr Rao S. Vadlamudi, who spent good time with the associates and their families. CEO had presented performance awards for select associates for their performance in the last quarter.

    Satven WeCare!

    Hypertension – A reason to be on red alert

    Satven held a detailed session on Hypertension in SP Info City, Chennai, for the benefit of the associates. As many as 30 associates participated. The session was organized by Dr. Reddy’s Foundation on 27th October from 2pm to 3pm.

    Doctors from Yashoda Hospitals visited Satven Hyderabad on 31st October and offered medical checkup to all associates. The tests, included Body Mass Index, blood sugar test, BP, and consultation on cardiac health. They also offered customized consultation for other prevalent problems in today’s times such as Vitamin D deficiency and anemia. As many as 245 members participated in the consultation session and benefited from it.

      Greenpeace engages with Satven associates

      Greenpeace India, an organization working towards spreading environment awareness, visited Satven Hyderabad on 2nd November.

        The organization’s volunteers spoke about food wastage and they taught the associates a simple, systematic way called ‘Khamba’ that turns kitchen waste into manure at homes. The volunteers shared virtual reality presentations and engaged in a direct dialogue with associates.

      Recently, the international NGO launched a campaign called ‘Waste Segregation’, so they also touched upon the topic. The topic is particularly important because organic waste which can be useful as manure will end up in various landfills in the city when not segregated well.
