Hyderabad-based L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is a not-for-profit comprehensive eye care institution committed to delivering high-quality treatment and care for patients, irrespective of their socio-economic background. They are dedicated to achieving excellence across eye care verticals - clinical services, education, research, rehabilitation & sight enhancement services, eye bank and rural community outreach.
They have a digital library in the Rehabilitation Centre which is maintained by TMF. This library caters to the visually challenged who request for converting study/course material to audio books. This is made possible with the help of volunteers who come forward to read books for recording which is subsequently edited using special software (Job Access with Speech). The TMF foundation monitors and tracks the contributions made.
Satven WeCare volunteers got an opportunity to associate themselves with this initiative. In May 2015 a team of 34 volunteers participated in both the book reading and editing programs at the Rehabilitation Centre. The team together clocked 25 hours of editing and 18 hours of reading activity.
