      Skill Set:

      • CAD/PLM: 3DX/CATIA V6/V5, Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, DMU. Program control: GPDS; FEDE milestones; DVP. Concern Release; 50:50 D&R/CAD. Validation: DV/PV plans; CAE-to-proto, rapid 8D RCA, ICA/PCA closure. Manufacturing/launch: DFM/tooling, PPAP/PSW, line trials, plant support to J1+90. Suppliers/CFTs: Drive suppliers, align D&R/CAE/STA/VOME/Attributes, LQOS, DFMEA, P Diagram, SCCAF, proactive risk/Plan B

      Domain Knowledge:

      • Strong expertise in automotive interior plastics / Sheetmetal design with Design & Release engineering capabilities.
      • Hands-on experience in Instrument Panel, Door Trim, Console & Cross car beam development.
      • Proficiency in CATIA, 3DX, and PLM Team Center.
      • Strong understanding of DFM, DFA, design to manufacture, design for serviceability, APQP, PPAP, and part development.
      • Knowledge of injection molding, tooling, mold flow, draft analysis, shrinkage, warpage, and manufacturing constraints.
      • Experience in prototype development, tool trials, production launch, and issue resolution.
      • Knowledge on stamping/forming/embossing, piercing, clinching/riveting, spot welding, adhesive bonding, and tape applications; design for assembly and service access.
      • Tooling feasibility, draw/bead strategies, flange and hole pattern optimization, tolerance stack-ups, and GD&T appropriate for body-in-white and underbody environments.
      • Strong command of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and dimensional engineering.
      • Ability to manage technical communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
      • Strong problem-solving skills with an ownership mindset and expert-level technical judgment.

      Job Description:

      • Lead end-to-end design and development of automotive interior components including Instrument Panel, Door Trim, Console & Cross car beam.
      • Develop plastic parts from scratch starting with styling inputs, packaging studies, interface management, and concept feasibility.
      • Create and validate robust CAD designs using CATIA and 3DX, ensuring engineering intent, geometry integrity, and release readiness.
      • Manage part structures, revisions, and engineering data using PLM Team Center.
      • Apply DFM and DFA principles throughout the design cycle to ensure manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
      • Ensure design to manufacture and design for serviceability requirements are built into the part architecture from the beginning.
      • Drive plastic part design with proper wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, snaps, clips, mounting features, and structural support features.
      • Perform detailed tooling feasibility studies including parting line, undercuts, sliders, lifters, ejector placement, shut-offs, and mold release considerations.
      • Support mold design, tooling strategy, and prototype/tool trial activities with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
      • Participate in APQP activities and support robust product development processes aligned with launch milestones.
      • Collaborate on PPAP, validation, prototype build issues, and production readiness.
      • Lead and support supplier discussion for feasibility reviews, technical alignment, issue resolution, and design optimization.
      • Work closely with cross-functional teams including styling, packaging, CAE, manufacturing, tooling, quality, purchasing, and suppliers.
      • Support quality planning, dimensional control, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and fit/finish requirements.
      • Review material selection and ensure part performance for durability, appearance, service, and assembly.
      • Support design validation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and launch issue closure.
      • Ensure parts meet function, cost, quality, and timing targets throughout the development cycle.
