    Senior Engineer - Chassis Design, Chennai (Job Code: 21RR09005)

    Responsibilities:

    • Engineering and Design optimization of Chassis Structural, Suspension, Brakes, Steering System Components. (Control arm, knuckle, links, ball joint, springs, cradle, frames, engine mount brackets & steering)
    • Product Design & Development knowledge of any of the above Chassis Components is preferred.
    • Working closely with cross functional teams like materials engineering, CAE, testing, product center of competency, service, warranty and supplier quality.
    • Understand vehicle/sub system functional objectives, inter dependencies and study the packaging, serviceability, plant assembly process/ decking and cost implications.
    • Create/follow suspension kinematics and compliances to study dynamics clearances.
    • Create Tire envelopes. Conduct dynamic and static packaging studies in UG/NX, provide packaging solutions.
    • Create Ground planes in CAD based on vehicle weight and wheel rates
    • Packaging studies for chassis sub systems and component modeling and design in CATIA
    • Working on designs using CATIA & release in PLM
    • Preparation of part release / complexity to support release work in CoDep/ EBOM and PLM
    • Track vehicle level BOM, component weights and release issues.

    Essential:

    • Min 3-5 years of experience with automotive OEM or equivalent in Chassis design and development. Chassis Product design, functional requirements, development and testing knowledge.
    • Creation of mechanism in CATIA/ UG/NX, motion simulation for suspension jounce & rebound. Creation of design envelopes for Tires
    • Must have strong hands on experience in CATIA modeling (Surface/Assembly)
    • Good knowledge of functional objectives of vehicle wrt durability and NVH
    • Good understanding of functional science of Chassis subs systems for fatigue, NVH and stiffness
    • Work closely with purchasing & supplier based on developing technical solution within cost and timing target. Make samples for assembly trial and VP builds, Conduct part validation as per plan
    • Experience of packaging study and component design
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in Excel.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Vehicle assembly process knowledge and system and component tooling and process experience.
    • Chassis sub systems and vehicle packaging knowledge.
    • Process knowledge of casting, sheet metal and forging.
    • Simulation of manufacturing processes like sheet metal forming, casting-mold fill simulation. Knowledge of various chassis subsystems and Vehicle dynamics.
    • Strong Analytical capability

    Skills:

    • Design, Development , 3D Modeling, DMU Analysis, Clearance Checks, 2D Drawing and Detailing, Motion Simulation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

    Qualification:

    • BE/ME/MS in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering
